Estimation of Cumulative Dietary Risk of Pesticides Sharing Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitory Effects
Lee Mi-Gyung

Abstract
Cumulative dietary risk on Korean population from pesticides having acetylcholinesterase inhibitory effects was estimated. Relative potency factor approach was used with an assumption of dose additivity of toxicity to evaluate the cumulative toxicity. Point estimates on the cumulative risk were obtained using single-point data for pesticide residues and food consumption. Margin of safety for the estimated cumulative risk resulted in 4,166 for non-detect=0 mg/kg and 236 for non-detect= 1/2LOD, 0.005 mg/kg. These results indicate that cumulative risks from acetylcholinesterase inhibitory pesticides may not be a concern for the average Korean population. These results should be understood on a screening-level due to the many assumptions and limitations made. More refined and realistic risk assessments should be undertaken on the basis of a more realistic approach and sufficient supporting data.
